Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Sergeant in the Union Army in Company F, 121st New York Infantry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on April 6, 1865 at Deatonsville (Sailor's Creek), Virginia. His citation reads "Capture of Confederate Maj. Gen. George Washington Custis Lee."
