CHETOPA - Robert L. Duncan, 90, of Chetopa, Kan., died at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006, at Oswego Hospital, Oswsego, Kan., after an illness.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at Oakhill Cemetery, Chetopa, with rev. Susan Brown officiating. Interment following.
Services under the direction of Jim Thomas, Thomas Funeral Home, Welch, Okla.
Robert was b orn March 4, 1916, at Craig county, Okla., to Fredrick Blackburn and Daisy B. (Smith) Duncan. He proudly served with the Construction Battalion for the US Navy.
On Nov. 5, 1939, he married Alberta B. Mayfield in Labette City, Kan. She preceded him in death on March 21, 2005. He worked as a custodian for the Norwalk School District several years before retiring.
Survivors include one son, Robert Duncan, Canyon Lake, Calif.; one brother, Richard "Dick" Duncan, Delaware, Okla.; many other relatives and a host of friends.
