He was listed as, head of household, a farmer, age 54 (56), born in North Carolina, and his wife, Elizabeth Culler, age 80, born in North Carolina, and his stepson-in-law, and stepdaughter, Joel & Polly Zoleman and their children were living with them.
Also note that the census record are all a big mess, none of the age's match from census to census, but this is the right Alfred and Elizabeth. Also some have her birth date as November 27, 1823, I have it as November 27, 1833 which makes better since with census records, and what I have researched so far.
Some time after the death of his wife, Elizabeth, who died on December 6, 1911 and 1915 he came back to North Carolina where he died, and was buried.
