For some days the friends and family of Mrs Mary E Winter have been grieved over what was evidently her last illness. Ever since the sudden death of her husband, Joseph S Winter, last summer, she has been in feeble health. Last night about 9:30 o'clock, she breathed her last.
The older residents of this city knew and associated with her in youth and during all her maturer years. The younger generation learned to love her for her gentleness and kindness.
Mrs Winter was a daughter of John and Sarah L Gindrat. She was born on the 27th day of September 1825, at what is know known as the Mastin Place, about one mile from this city.
She was married to the late Col Joseph S Winter on the 5th day of June 1845, and they lived to celebrate their Golden Wedding.
She has left 3 children surviving: Judge John Gindrat Winter; Mrs Lucy W Lahey and Mrs Sallie G Thorington.
She was the sister of the late Col John H and Dr Abram Gindrat. Her parents were among the earliest settlers in this city and closely connected with its early history.
