Michael J. Impellitteri Jr., 66, of Ansonia, died Jan. 5, at home.

Son of the late Deacon Michael J. and Angelina DiMauro Impellitteri Sr., he was born Jan. 5, 1946 in Derby.

Mr. Impellitteri was employed as an advertising salesman for the former WADS Radio Station in Ansonia. A U.S. Navy veteran, he served during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Impellitteri was very active in public service and in the Ansonia Community. He served as a hearing officer in Ansonia, chairman of the Ansonia Historical Society for 14 years, past president of the former Ansonia Lions Club, past commander of the American Legion in Ansonia, and a member of the V.F.W. and the Catholic War Veterans in Derby.

He is survived by three sisters, Maria Zacharko (Stephen) of Seymour, Ellen Apfel (Russell) of St. Augustine, Fla., and Joyce Impellitteri of Ansonia; three nephews, Max Zacharko of Seymour and Sanford and Steven Apfel of Florida; and many friends.

He was predeceased by his longtime companion, Dee Nicholas.

Services are Friday, Jan. 13, 10 a.m., Spinelli-Ricciuti/Bednar-Osiecki Funeral Home, 62 Beaver St., Ansonia. Burial follows in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery, Derby. Visiting hours, Thursday, 5-7 p.m.
