Charles Edwin Carrico, 83, of Kentucky 144, Knottsville, formerly of 1004 W. 12th St., Owensboro, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 1994, at Mercy Hospital. He was born in Daviess County, a son of Charles R. and Elizabeth Johnson Carrico; was retired from Fleischman Distillery; had been a longtime member of St. Stephen Cathedral; was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society and the Fleischmann Distillery Quarter Century Club; and was a Kentucky Colonel and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. A son, Samuel Lee Carrico, died in 1987; a great-grandson, Colin Lee Newton, died in 1990; and two sisters, Sister Angela Maria Carrico SCN and Sister Ann Maria Carrico SCN. Survivors include his wife, Mary Virginia Boarman Carrico; seven sons; Robert P. "Pat" Carrico of Utica, Charles David Carrico of Sorgho, Francis I. "Frank" Carrico, Richard J. "Rick" Carrico, Christopher M. "Chris" Carrico, Philip A. Carrico and Mark E. Carrico, all of Owensboro; six daughters, Mrs. Eddie (Jeanette) Smith of Stanley, Mrs. Tom (Lucy) Goetz and Mrs. Gary (Judy) Bielefeld, Mrs. William J. (Janice) Walker, all of Owensboro, Mrs. Cleon (Carol) Hurm or Rockport, Ind., and Mrs. Gregory A. (Karen) Gilmore of Sorgho; 29 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry I. Carrico of Owensboro and Gerald E. Carrico of Leesburg, Fla.; a sister, Sister Lucy Carrico SCN; and four daughters-in-law, Charlene Bradfield Carrico, Shirley Austin Carrico, Mary Alice Humphrey Carrico and Michelle Snyder Carrico. Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Stephen Cathedral. Entombment will be at Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 2 until 9 p.m. today, 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and 8 until 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be said at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and the Daughters of Isabella will say prayers there at 6 p.m. Friday. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Daniel Pitino Shelter, 501 Walnut St., Owensboro, Ky. 42301.
