French Royalty and English Queen Consort. She was the youngest daughter of the Planagenet King of France Philip III and indirectly related to the Valois dynasty. After a period of hostility between France and England that lasted three years, she married (1299) thanks to political agreements, definitively sanctioned with the Treaty of Paris (1303), the English king Edward I. Very faithful to the political line and the will of her husband whom she followed even during the expedition to control and defend the borders with Scotland, Marguerite was much appreciated by the English people who called her a pearl of great value.
