Gladys A Libby
PLAISTOW -- Gladys A. "Tuttie" (Gebow) Libby, 85, formerly of Sweethill Road, died Feb. 13, 2008, at Exeter Hospital.
She was born in Haverhill, Mass., the daughter of H. Leslie and Hazel (Gray) Gebow. She was raised in Plaistow and lived in town all of her life. She attended Pollard School and graduated from Haverhill High School, class of 1940.
Mrs. Libby worked as a coil winder during World War II at Western Electric Co. After raising her children, she was a hostess and cashier at Sawyer's Restaurant, Plaistow, and later for 14 years as a cashier at the New Hampshire
State Liquor Store.
She belonged to First Baptist Church of Plaistow, was a charter member of Triangle Guild and belonged to Ladies Auxiliary of the Carl Davis Post of the American Legion, Plaistow, and Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.
She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Elmer L. Libby, in 1999.
The family includes two sons, Keith A. Libby and Tommy L. Libby, both of Plaistow; a daughter, Cindy L. Vigneault of Brentwood; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Norman and George Gebow, both of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
SERVICES: Calling hours are Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow. A service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Spring burial will be in Plaistow Cemetery.
