Canadian politician. A native of Sainte-Geneviève-de-Batiscan (Québec), he studied first in Saint-Stanislas, then at the Lasalle Academy in Trois-Rivières, at the Saint-Sulpice College in Montréal and at the University of Montréal. He was admitted to College of Physicians of Québec in 1922. He obtained also a certificate in anaesthesia from the Royal College. Appointed doctor of sciences honoris causa of the Laval university in 1952. He opened his practice in Shawinigan in 1923 and worked with the Joyce Memorial Hospital, and the Sainte-Thérèse Hospital. He served first as Governor of the College of Physicians of Québec from 1938 to 1946, then as its President, from 1946 to 1961. He was active within various charity organizations. In 1935, under the banner of the “Action Libérale Nationale”, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly as the representative for the district of Saint-Maurice. The next year, he got reelected this time under the “Union Nationale” banner. He was Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly from October 14, 1936 at September 1939. He was defeated in 1939, but he won back his seat in 1944 and kept it in 1948. He was sworn in in the Premier Duplessis cabinet on August 30, 1944 as Minister without portofolio. He was defeated in the general election of 1952. He was named President of the Provincial Commission of the Minimum Wage on October 6, 1952. He died in Shawinigan.
