SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. — Ardys W. (Winkley) Chase, 84, beloved wife of Philip A. Chase of South Windsor, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at St. Francis Hospital.

Born in Rochester, N.H. on Nov. 27, 1923, daughter of the late Charles T. and Cora (Goodwin) Winkley, she had lived in South Windsor for the last 44 years.

Ardys was a member of Naomi Rebecca Lodge and Grange 86, both of Rochester, and was a member of the state and national Grange. She and Phil enjoyed many summers at their cottage in York Beach, Maine.

Her interest includes, bird watching, especially cardinals, playing the piano, crossword puzzles, card playing and duckpin bowling. Ardys was also a sports fan of the UConn women's basketball team, the Boston Red Sox and the National Hockey League.

In addition to her husband of 61 years, Phil, she leaves her children, William T. Chase and his wife, Heidi, of Vernon, and Phyllis C. Maslak and her husband, Stuart, of Ellington; a grandson, Alexander C. Maslak of Ellington; a stepgrandson, Jason M. Bartlett and his fiancée, Melissa Halle and their daughter, Jeslyn Marie Bartlett, all of Vernon; a special friend, Elaine Viot of Manchester, and many cousins, nieces and nephews and other friends.

Her family will receive friends Saturday, May 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Edgerly Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., Rochester. A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, following the calling hours at the funeral home at Evergreen Cemetery, Berwick, Maine.
