John R. "Johnny" Anderson
1927 - 2016
VETERAN

Early Life: Johnny was born on June 20, 1927, in Fountain Green, Utah, to Andrew Alexander and Jennie Caroline Larsen Anderson. The Anderson and Larsen families were direct descendants of Swedish pioneers called to settle the Fountain Green Valley.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: Johnny voluntarily joined the United States Navy at age 17, and served our great nation throughout World War II. He had a sharp mind and shared many of his war stories in great detail with friends and family. Johnny was called to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints after the war. He entered the mission home on May 2, 1949, and served in Stockholm, Sweden. He and his wife later visited Sweden and Denmark to reconnect with mission friends and distant relatives. Johnny met his beloved wife, Arline, at a party. Soon after, they were married on June 6, 1952. Their 64 year marriage was full of love and adventure. They raised five children in Provo, Utah, and spent much of their family time together in the great outdoors. Johnny is known by many in the community for his Conoco station and for bringing the U-Haul trailer business to the state of Utah. He was referred to by some as "Johnny U-Haul." He and Arline worked together in the Provo Utah Temple for 14 years and loved every minute. They also enjoyed serving in various callings in the Church. Johnny was best loved by his wife, Arline, and their five children: Keith (Susan), Kirt (Cindi), Karl (Karen), Jim (the late, Syndee), Kathy (Ron); 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren (plus two on the way), and countless adopted loved ones. The grand and great grandkids were especially fond of Grandpa's loving, teasing ways. He was also admired by his nieces and nephews, who loved their "Uncle Johnny." John R. "Johnny" Anderson passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on Friday, December 9, 2016. He was 89 years old.
Family Message: "We are all so grateful to have had such a fun, handsome, hard-working, faithful and kind man in our lives. We hope to live our lives in a way that would make Him proud."
