James William King was raised on Spring Hill, Pittsburgh PA, South Bend, Armstrong County PA and on Jewell Farm near Kent or Jacksonville PA (Rte 286) near Indiana PA 15701. He graduated from Blairsville High School 15717 in 1966. He was a member of the United States Army Security Agency during the Vietnam War and was a linguist. Most of his career was spent in the data processing industry. He worked for Honeywell, Kennametal, Unisys and other Fortune 500 companies.

He also developed fine art CD-ROM's for children as well as children's characters and stories. He and wife Ruth raised 5 wonderful children - Donna Lee, Bill, Chris, Matt and Mark. Mr. King was a devout Baptist and volunteered much time to charitable causes and Christian colleges and universities. He was also a Truman Scholar at IUP in Indiana PA in 1987 where he pursued a degree in International Studies.
His mother Verna and father James E. are buried in the same plot as is his maternal grandfather Wm. Paul Walter, Sr. His maternal greats are buried about 50 feet away. Peter Bright Walter, who helped guard Jefferson Davis at Fortress Monroe VA near Colonial Williamsburg and Kate Catherine Agatha Clancey Walter. They were members of Loyalhanna Baptist Church in the 1850's.
There is an 'In Memoriam' monument here to his sister Donna Lee King (1950-1956). She is interred at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery on Spring Hill, the North Side, Pittsburgh PA 15212. Her namesake is a daughter of Bill and Ruth King.
