Mrs. Burkley Is Dead at 75
Mrs. Isabelle F. Burkley, mother of actress Dorothy McGuire, died early Wednesday at St. Joseph's Hospital. Mrs. Burkley, 75, lived at 1122 South Thirty-fifth Avenue. She was the daughter of the late Andrew Trapp, widely known detective with the Omaha Police Department. Mrs. Burkley is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Swope, of Beverly Hills, Cal., and two grandchildren, Mary and Mark Swope. Dorothy McGuire is Mrs. Swope's stage name. Mrs. Burkley's first husband was the late T. J. McGuire, Omaha lawyer and former commander of Omaha Post No. 1 of the American Legion. The McGuires were divorced in 1930 and Mr. McGuire died two years later. In January 1932, Mrs. McGuire married Harry V. Burkley, Jr., an officer of the Burkley Envelope and Printing Company. They were divorced in 1939. Funeral services for Mrs. Burkley will be at 11:30 a.m . Thursday in St. Peter's Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
