---Toby Pauline Baldwin Johnson, 76, of Lee's Summit, Mo., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 17th, 2012 surrounded by her family after a brief battle with cancer.
---Toby was born on May 13th, 1935, at La Crosse, Mo., to Herman and Mary Baldwin, who preceded her in death. She graduated from La Plata High School in 1953, and was chosen as the first Queen Soya the same year. She married Jack D. Johnson in 1965. She was a member of the Spring Valley Baptist Church in Raytown for over 50 years. She was very active in her church and for many years taught the Berean Sunday School class. She received an elementary education degree from Dobbs Elementary School in Hickman Mills where she taught for many years. She was a "snowbird", and spend the last 12 winters at Sunflower Resort in Surprise, AZ. She wrote many short stories and was very active in the creative writing group at the resort.
---Survivors include: husband, Jack; children, Penny Curtis (her husband, Chuck) and Karen Day, all of Lee's Summitt; sisters, Glenna Johnson of Surprise, AZ. and Esta Broderick of Lee's Summit; granddaughters, Jan Miller (her husband, Steve), Lyndsy Deskins (her husband, Michael), Megan Day and Kyla Curtis; and great granddaughter, Hayley Deskins.
---At the request of the deceased, no services were held. Fond memorials and condolences for the family can be left at Langsford Funeral Home.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the City Union Mission of Kansas City.
