WAUTOMA— Funeral §ervices were held Tuesday afternoon at the Wautoma Methodist Church for George E. Dafoe, 84, veteran Waushara County school master, who died of a heart attack at Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on April 1. Interment was in the town of Oasis cemetery with Masonic rites.
Mr. Dafoe was born in Belleville, southern Ontario, Canada, and came with his parents to a farm in the town of Oasis, Waushara County, at the age of eight. At 16 he received a third grade teacher's certificate and began "his career as a teacher in the public schools, which continued without interruption for 55 years.
His record shows that he taught two years in the town of Oasis, three years in the' Hancock
Elementary School, qualified for high school work by home study and attendance at the University of Wisconsin during vacations and served for 13 years as principal of the Plainfield High School, eight years as principal of the Waushara County Normal, and for 29 years was principal of the Wautoma High School, in addition to teaching college summer school courses. ,
Survivors include his wife, the former Gertrude S. Collins of the town of Oasis; six daughters and one son, 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
