Fayetteville, NC - July 5 - Mrs Catherine Marrow (should be "Mallon")Haigh, died here yesterday afternoon at 5:30 aged 78 years. She was the daughter of George E Badger and leaves two half brothers:

Sherwood Badger of Raleigh.
She was a woman of fine Christian character, great culture and polish. The funeral will be held at St John's Episcopal Church.

Telegrams announcing the death of Mrs William H Haigh of Fayetteville were received in Raleigh last evening. She died at 4:30 yesterday afternoon at her home.
Mrs Haigh's death, while not unexpected, comes as a sad bereavement to her friends and relatives.
Mrs Kate Mallon Badger Haigh was the eldest daughter of the late George E Badger and Mary Polk Badger. She was born in Raleigh in 1827 and was78 years of age.
Her grandfather, Col William Polk, was the distinguished Revolutionary Patriot, while her uncle, the late Leonidas Polk, was the illustrious Bishop and Confederate General.
Mrs Haigh was a lady of unusual charm, and combined personality made her the object of affection to those who were thrown in contact with her.
Her children, George Badger Haigh, Miss Mary Polk Haigh and Mrs J B Underwood of Fayetteville, all preceded her to the grave. Two brothers, Honorable Thomas Badger of this city, and Mr Sherwood Badger of New Bern survive her. Funeral and interment will be in Fayetteville.

Married in Raleigh, May 6, 1846, WILLIAM H. HAIGH, born October 3, 1823, in Hillsboro, N. C; died June 27, 1870, in Fayetteville.
He was the son of Charles Haigh, son of John and Mary Haigh, born in Lambette, Surrey, England, June 8, 1794; married in Glossop Church, Derbyshire, August 13, 1818, Sarah Crowther, born in Leeds, August 25, 1796, daughter of Reverend John and Alice Crowther of Hayfield, Derbyshire.
