Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. His true name was Isaac Harrison Carman. He served as a Corporal in the Union Army in Company A, 48th Ohio Infantry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on May 22, 1863 at Vicksburg, Mississippi. His citation reads "Saved his regimental flag; also seized and threw a shell, with burning fuse, from among his comrades."
