Effie was the daughter of Janie L. Hiott and step-daughter of Robert "RP" Hiott. Her birth father was her mother's first husband - last name of Johns - her son, Arthur, took the last name of Hiott after her second marriage. Effie was raised by R.P., as was her son, after her death.

Sister of Cecil Johns; half-sister of Janie Mae Hiott Gorman and Martha Hiott Andrews.
Mother of Arthur L. Hiott. She is buried between her parents and son.

She died from what is believed, for the year 1941, to have been a form of cancer, possibly leukemia.
** Just recently I have learned that Effie was married to a Hiott (a different Hiott family than her step-father) who may have, in fact, poisoned her as he killed several of his own children from a previous marriage and his sister.
