Lawrence was a mechanic and worked on both cars/trucks and airplanes. He lived most of his life in Elliott, Illinois.

Laurence "Scuffy" Anderson, 76, of Elliott died Wednesday afternoon in Mattoon Manor Nursing Home at Mattoon.

     Services will be at 1:30 pm Saturday at the Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, with the Rev Benjamin Ostrum officiating.  Burial will be in Glen Cemetery at Paxton.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 pm Friday.

     Born Aug 9, 1896, near Elliott, Mr Anderson was a son of Martin and Belle Ingberg Ness Anderson.  He was married to Agnes Carlson, who died Jan 8, 1945.  He was a retired mechanic.

     Mr Anderson leaves, sons, Maurice of Chicago, and Gayle of Elliott; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, a brother, Edward of Elliott, and a sister, Mrs Henry Paulson of Lisbon, Illinois.

     He was a lifelong resident of the Elliott area and a member of Pontoppidan Lutheran Church near Elliott.

One son, three brothers and one sister also preceded Mr Anderson in death.
