Willie was the fourth of five children born to Edwin Osmyn and Nellie M. Blunt Wagar. He was born in Skagit County, Washington and subsequently moved to Alberta for a short while with his parents where his father hoped to homestead. In 1914 the family moved to Missoula County, Montana where Willie's father got work in the Bonner saw mill. This is where William attended school. He was a victim of the influenza outbreak of 1918/1919 along with his younger sister, Helen. Unfortunately, Willie developed the complication of pneumonia along with his flu and did not survive the ravages of this disease. The family loved him dearly and has remembered him fondly over the years.
