Greek Prime Minister. Kanaris served as the Prime Minister of Greece six times including, from March 11, 1844, to April 11, 1844, October 27, 1848, to December 24, 1849, May 28, 1854, to July 29, 1854, March 17, 1864, to April 28, 1864, August 7, 1864, to February 9, 1865, and June 7, 1877, until his death on September 2, 1877. Also a noted admiral and freedom fighter, Kanaris served in the Greek War of Independence from 1821 to 1829, and was instrumental in overthrowing King Otto of Greece in 1862.
