Killed by Apache Indians north of Tucson in March or April of 1861, while hauling freight to the old Fort Grant.

He was buried where he fell, at the top of a hill beyond Samaniego's ranch, on the old road; and all that Mrs. Page ever saw of him was his handkerchief , his purse and a lock of his hair.
