Christman was a minister in the New York Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church/The Methodist Church/United Methodist Church. He was ordained Deacon April 3, 1932 by Bishop Charles Larew Mead - ordained Elder April 2, 1933 by Bishop Francis John McConnell.
