Evelyn was born May 28, 1941, in Oakland, Nebraska, to Kermit and Maisie (Teeters) Lenig.
She attended Decatur Public Schools graduating from Decatur High School in 1959. She then moved to Washington, D.C. and worked for the United States Navy. She moved to Denver, Colorado, to work for the Internal Revenue Service and then returned to Omaha, Nebraska, and worked for The Fort until 1972.
On July 22, 1962, Evelyn and Edward Maslonka were married at the United Methodist Church in Decatur, Nebraska. Two children, Lisa and Adam, were born to this union. In 1972, they moved to their farm northeast of Lyons.
In the late 1970's , Evelyn started working for the Soil Conservation Service (SCS) in Lyons until the office was moved to Tekamah, then named Natural Resource Department (NRD). Evelyn retired in September 2011.
Evelyn enjoyed her granddaughter, sports, Blue Devils , casinos, tomatoes and most important, John Wayne.
She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother.
Survivors include her husband, Ed of Lyons; children, Lisa and Adam of Lyons; granddaughter, Jessie Taylor Mutum of Lyons; nieces, nephews, many cousins and special sidekick, Sharon Slaughter.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: Monday, February 27, 2012, 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Decatur.
MEMORIAL VISITATION: Sunday, 6 - 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends at Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah.
BURIAL AT A LATER DATE: Hillcrest Cemetery, Decatur, Nebraska
