Daughter of artist James A Merriam, she married artist Theodore Nickolas Lukits in 1937. They were storing gasoline in the basement of their home. Eleanor was pouring gasoline when it was ignited by a pilot light and burned her severely on Sep 9, 1948. She was transported to LA County General Hospital, and finally passed away on Sep 25, 1948.
