Political Figure. The Hon. Amos Edwin Botsford was Speaker of the Senate of Canada. His grandfather, father and brother represented Westmoreland in the New Brunswick House of Assembly, each serving in turn as Speaker. He served as senior Judge of Common Pleas for Westmoreland and held the rank of lieutenant colonel in the 2nd Battalion Westmoreland Militia. Senator Botsford, who had declined a request to form a government, was called to the Senate in 1867.
