Mabel Cree Scott, 88, of Waynesburg R.D. 2, died at 5 a.m. Wednesday, January 16, 1991, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W. Va., following a lengthy illness.
She was born November 18, 1902, in Davistown, a daughter of Samuel and Ella Phillips Cree.
A lifelong resident of Greene County, Mrs. Scott was a member of Greene Valley Presbyterian Church in Carmichaels. A graduate of Jefferson Townshp High School, Class of 1921, she also attended Waynesburg College and Washington and Jefferson College. She was a member of the Pennsylvania and National Retired Teachers associations.
For 40 years, Mrs. Scott taught in Greene County schools, including one-room schools in Jefferson and Cumberland townships. She also taught for 16 yeas at Pitt Gas Grade School and for 11 years at Dry Tavern Grade School. She retired in 1961.
Her husband, Charles B. Scott, died in 1964.
Deceased, in addition to her husband, are four sisters, Gail, Ethel, Vesta and Osie; and five brothers, Earl, Roy, Edwin, Ralph and Harry.
