According to some historians she was born in 1289, she lived her early childhood and adolescence at the English court as her father was a private advisor and friend by Edward I. However, in the months following the coronation, the disagreements between England and Scotland degenerated into an armed conflict that ended with the defeat of the Scots at Methven (1306, June). Following this, the entire royal family suffered serious physical repercussions. She was granted house arrest in various locations which ended in 1314. Elizabeth de Burgh died as a result of a fall from a horse.
