Death of Levi R. Vincent
SANTA MONICA, Nov. 27.—Levi R. Vincent, capitalist and philanthropist, died at an early hour this morning at his residence on Third street, after a lingering sickness of several months. Mr. Vincent was 69 years of age, and had lived in Santa Monica for the past fourteen years. He came here from New York, his native state, where he had been interested successfully in business, principally that of broker and grocer at Ithaca. During the civil war he followed the northern army at a sutler. Mr. Vincent leaves an invalid wife and a large circle of friends to mourn his loss. Funeral services will be in charge of the Masonic order at 2 p. m. Tuesday.

Mr. Levi died at his residence at 448 Third Street in Santa Monica. The Funeral was held November 29, 1898. His remains were cremated at Rosedale. (There is no mention of any burial or cemetery).
He was born in Wyoming County New York in 1829 and came to California in 1884. He moved to Santa Monica two years later and was a director in the Bank of Santa Monica until two years prior to his death.
He enlisted in the 136 Volunteers at the beginning of the Civil War and became the Regimental Quartermaster.
