Hollis Crump was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his service during WWII. He returned from the U.S. Army in 1945, where he was one of the many that stormed the beaches of Normandy. He married Elizabeth that same year and in 1946 they had a son John. Hollis Crump Motors was created and located on Birmingham Avenue in Downtown Jasper. After many successful years of car sales and surviving Normandy, Hollis tragically died in a house fire in his home in Jasper. After his death, his wife renamed the dealership E & J Crump Motors for Elizabeth and John. His son carried on the car business for decades.
