Faith E. Emery, 79, of Lebanon died Saturday January 4, 2003 at The Sanford Health Care Facility.

She was born in Springvale, Maine on September 10, 1923 the daughter of Ralph and Edith (Stubbs) Emery and attended local schools, graduating from Sanford High School in 1941.

Ms. Emery received her B.S. in Biology in 1945 from The University of New Hampshire. She then entered the WAVES as a hospital core man at Treasure Island, San Francisco in 1947.

After attending a year of graduate school she worked at Maine Medical Center in Portland as a certified registered laboratory technologist. She then worked at Newport General Hospital in Newport, RI, till she was recalled to The Chelsea Naval Hospital during The Korean War. Before attending graduate school again she worked for The New England Baptist Hospital in Boston in 1954.

Faith received her B.A in Art in 1955 from The University of New Hampshire. She received her M.A. in teaching from Harvard-Radcliff in 1956. Ms. Emery taught public schools in Attleboro, MA, East Hartford, CT., where she attended The Hartford School of Art. She ended her teaching career in Portland in the early 70's where she attended The Portland School of Art.

Ms. Emery was on a board for The Waban Projects in Sanford, and on The Environmental Board of East Lebanon.

She was a deaconess at The North Parish Congregational Church in Sanford and a member of The Order of The Eastern Star. Ms. Emery enjoyed painting and sculpting. In the past she was a camp counselor for the Girl Scouts.

She is survived by her brother John Emery of Barrington, NH. She was predeceased by her brother Ralph Emery who died in 2002.

Relatives and friends may call on Thursday January 9, 2003 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at Heald Funeral Home 580 Main Street Springvale, where a funeral will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday January 10, 2003.
