Mr. Karlin was born April 21, 1927, in Catherine, Kan. He married Rita Otto Oct. 16, 1949, in Grand Lake.

He was a mechanic for heavy-duty equipment and racing cars. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife, Rita of Denver; a son, Steve of Yucaipa, Calif.; three sisters, Bertilla Wilson of Colby, Kan., Agnes Sanders of Great Bend, Kan., and Betty Burchfield of Louisville, Texas; five brothers, Eldon and Robert of Denver, Francis and Eugene of Hays, Kan., and Ervin of Wheat Ridge; and two grandchildren.
