Major League Baseball Player. He played Major League Baseball from 1905 through 1917. At the time he was one of the few pros who was not born in the U.S.A. He gained fame as catcher for the Chicago Cubs from 1909 until 1917. He invented the snap throw from the crouched position. He was well known for his ability to throw out base runners. His throwing arm was an inch shorter than his other arm due to an injury. He caught for the Cubs during their National League Championship season of 1910.
