Better known as "Pete DeWolfe" in his hometown of Marion Ohio. First husband of Florence Mabel Kling and the father of Marshal DeWolfe.

Florence DeWolfe divorced her first husband, and later married Warren G. Harding, publisher of The Marion Daily Star. She would become First Lady of the U.S. following Harding's election.

No known marriage certificate is known for Pete DeWolfe and Florence Kling's marriage, but a divorce certificate does exist in Marion County Ohio courthouse records.

Following the divorce, DeWolfe drifted from Marion to Columbus to Wyoming. His battle with alcohol was well known and well documented in the newspapers.

DeWolfe died from tuberculosis and the side effects of prolonged alcoholism.
