BLAINE: Helen M. Rideout, 84 left her fears and worries behind to meet her Lord and Maker at the Maine Veterans Home in Caribou on March 13, 2012. She was born April 3, 1928 in Bridgewater, the daughter of Fred and Ruby (Black) Rideout. She attended Bridgewater schools, graduating as valedictorian of her class in 1946, after which she obtained a degree in nursing from the Eastern Maine General Hospital in Bangor. Helen served as a nurse in the U.S. Air Force, retiring with the rank of Captain. Following her retirement, she resided many years in California, continuing in the nursing profession before returning to Maine. Helen was predeceased by three brothers, Clair, Earl, and Ralph Rideout, and two sisters, Vinca Maskewicz and Henrietta Bradstreet. She is survived by two sisters in law, Marie Rideout of New Jersey, and Betty Rideout of Hermon, as well as several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held later in the spring at the Smith Cemetery, Bridgewater. Arrangements in the care of Duncan Funeral Home, Mars Hill.
