Lucius A. Smith, 97, a former resident of 415 W. Division St., died Sunday April 3, at Rice County District One Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday from Immaculate Conception Church with the Rev. George J. Freeman, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. Wednesday at Parker-Kohl Funeral Home and Thursday until the service. Parish vigil prayers will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Lucius Alexander Smith, the son of George and Olive Olson Smith, was born Jan. 20, 1891, in Forest Township, rural Rice County. He married Emma Healy Oct. 20, 1914, in Faribault. She preceded him in death July 19, 1972. Mr. Smith was an attorney in Faribault since 1912. He was a member of the Rice County Bar Association, the State Bar Association and was the last charter member of the Faribault Lions Club.
He is survived by his son, Dr. Wayne Smith of Faribault; two daughters, Mrs. Delbert (Olive) Caron of Alexandria and Miss June Smith of St. Paul; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents and two sons, George in 1951 and Bruce in 1967.
