Virgil J. Boehm, 88, of Paradise died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007.
His wife of 53 years, Irene Griffin, his wife of 6 years, Genevieve Maki and his son Barry L. Boehm, all predeceased him. Survivors include; a sister, Joyce Menster of Cascade, Iowa; four grandchildren; Barry Boehm Jr. of Jersey City, N. J.; Stephen Boehm and his wife Lauri of Colo.; Dottie Reinhardt of Las Vegas, Nev.; and Rosa Boehm of Tacoma, Wash.; a step-daughter, Sharon Harris of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; two step-granddaughters; Gina Barnes of Chico and Lisa Burcio of San Diego, Calif., and several nieces and nephews all located in Illinois.
Virgil was born Jan. 13, 1918, to John and Ruth Boehm in Cambridge, Ill., spending most of his childhood in Moline, west of Chicago, before his marriage to Irene in 1940.
In 1945 Mr. Boehm entered the Army and after being honorably discharged, attended the Texas Assembly of God Bible School to pursue a career as a minister. He helped start several churches, was actively involved in prison ministries, worked in several factories and later formed and worked at the First National Bank in Moline, Ill., before retiring in 1982.
After Irene's passing in 1993, Virgil married Genevieve in 1994 until her death in 2000.
If there were one thing he would want to be remembered for, it would be that he was a faithful "Witness for the Lord, Jesus Christ."
Visitation begins at 11:00 a.m. the morning of the funeral. Funeral services are Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at 1 p.m. in the Brusie Funeral Home followed by burial in Glen Oaks Memorial Park. Published in Chico Enterprise-Record on January 18, 2007.
