OBITUARY

Mr. Rye was born Jan.6, 1879, in Fertile township on the farm which was his home at the time of death. He died last Friday morning in a Mason City hospital where an operation for an obstruction of the bowels failed to bring relief and death came the following day. He was a son of Ole A. and Kjresti Rye who came to Worth county from Wisconsin in 1876. With the exception of ten years residence in Hanlontown when he was engaged in mercantile business with his brother, A.O. Rye, the Rye family homestead had been his home. He operated the home farm and other land from 1913 to the time of his death.
He was baptized by Rev. I. M. Dahl and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith by the Rev. O.O.Rev. On June 22, 1902, he was married to Miss Christena Trustem, a resident of of the Hanlontown vicinity. Eight children were born to them of whom seven, with their mother survive. They are: Laura, Mrs. Raymond Anderson of Milan, Minn.; Orville, Ethel Mrs. Clarence Brunsvold, Norman, Claire, June and Robert, all but Mrs. Anderson being residents of Hanlontown and vicinity. Cora preceded her father in death in 1930. Mr. Rye is also survived by two brothers, Arne O. Rye of Northwood and Clarence S. Rye of Miami,Florida.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Rye home and at 2:00 o'clock at the Hanlontown Lutheran Church with the Rev. Thor Sigmond of Kensett in charge, assisted by the Rev. H.O. Hjelmeland of Fertile.
