Commissioner Marion Westcott was the daughter of Canadian Salvation Army officers, Arch and Edith Layman. They moved to Hawaii, where Marion finished high school, and then the family moved to San Francisco. She was commissioned as a Salvation Army officer in 1934.

She was married twice: first, in 1937, to Captain Kenneth Anderson. They served in Brazil for a short time, and in the United States Western Territory. Brigadier Kenneth Anderson was Promoted to Glory in March of 1968.

In November 1978, Lieutenant Colonel Marion Anderson moved to London, England, where she married Commissioner Herbert Westcott, whereupon she was promoted to the rank of Commissioner. He was Promoted to Glory in 1996, after which she returned to the United States, finishing her time on earth in Hawaii.

NOTE: This is the same person who is memorialized at Find a Grave Memorial# 176927401. That page is entitled, "LTC Marion E. "Westcott" Anderson, the same as what is shown on her headstone.

However, her maiden name was not "Westcott." That was the name of her second husband. Her maiden name was as shown above.
