GERALD WAYNE "BUD" McALISTER, 73, of Comanche, Okla., passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012 in Duncan, Oklahoma.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 30, 2012, at the Chisholm Trail Cowboy Church north of Comanche. Pastor Charles Sappington will be officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche under the direction of Bailes-Polk Funeral Home of Duncan.
Bud was born March 19, 1939 in Enid, Okla., to Harold Daniel McAlister and Rella Rebecca(Pierce) McAlister. He was a welder and pipefitter by trade, and a member of the Local 344 plumbers and pipefitters union. He enjoyed making things out of metal and spending time at home. Bud was a loving person and a true jokester. He enjoyed being around people and spending time with his family.
On August 10, 2006, Bud married Clara Mae Williams in Eureka Springs, Ark. Bud was a member of the Chisholm Trail Cowboy Church where he greatly enjoyed the fellowship of others.
Survivors include his wife, Clara of the home;
one son, Randy Wayne McAlister and wife Beverly of Velma, Okla.; one daughter, Debra Thaxton and husband Jay of Columbia, Tenn.; four step-daughters, Ginger Berry and husband Roger of Waurika, Patricia Robinson and husband Mark of Wichita Falls, Texas, Nancy Roebuck and husband Rick of Comanche, and Geline Windholz and husband Carl of Eakly, Okla.; nine grandchildren, Delania, Landra, Rusty, Cody, Joe, Kelly, Derek, Brittni, and Travis; four great-grandchildren, Kaleigh, K'dence, Rylan and Danielle; nine step-grandchildren; and 18 step- great-grandchildren; one brother, Roger McAlister and wife Alline of Comanche; one sister, Zelpha Taylor and husband Don of Comanche; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 29.
