His mausoleum was burned during bombing raids in 1945 and was reconstructed between 1974 and 1979. During this excavation, Date's well-preserved remains were found and reinterred. His mausoleum is identical to the original and is widely admired for its fine craftsmanship and architecture. It is the size of a small temple, and its exterior is inlaid with figures of peole, birds, and flowers in natural colors, all sheltered by elaborate curving roofs. Gold leaf is used extravagantly on the pillars and in the eaves of the roofs, creating a golden aura.
