Kathryn Pearl Agee Stephens was born in Wilbur, Oregon on Feb 4, 1886. She died in Coos Bay, Oregon on Jan. 27, 1978 and is buried in Wilbur, OR. She was the 2nd to the last child, of 12 total, to John Agee (1839-1912) and Mary Elizabeth Thornton (1847-1920). Both families came from Missouri, then Yamhill Co, OR, then Douglas Co, Oregon to the town of Wilbur. Siblings were Lettia, Otto W., Lucretia (Ellison), Theodocia (Leake), John D., Zopher N., Emma M., Owen L., Ray Eural, Roy, and Bertha (Chapman).

She may have attended Umpqua Academy in Wilbur and she attended Western Oregon College and the University of Oregon in Eugene, OR. She was a teacher in several schools in Douglas County (Green's Valley, Oak Creek, Wilbur, Roseburg (Rose and Fullerton)) and eighteen years in Eugene. She married Elbert William Stephens June 4, 1938 in Lane County when she was 52 years old and moved to the Reedsport-Gardiner area on the coast of Oregon (Douglas/Lane Counties). They had no children. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Reedsport, Rebekah Lodge, and instrumental in forming the local garden club.
