David Orval Headley, 89, of Spraggs, formerly of Waynesburg, died at 8:26 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2012, in Respicenter West, Waynesburg.

He was born Monday, January 8, 1923, in Perry Township, Greene County, son of the late Otley M. Headley and Gladys O. Whitlatch Headley.

Mr. Headley was a member of Mt. Morris Gospel Tabernacle Assembly of God Church.

He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was involved in the landing at Normandy, France.

While his health permitted, he enjoyed playing golf.

Mr. Headley worked for 41 years for J&L Coal Mine in Bobtown, having worked as a mechanic.

His first wife, Betty Jane Jones Headley, whom he married June 26, 1949, died January 1, 1980. His second wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Kiger Kiger Headley, whom he married September 2, 1983, died June 12, 1995.

His third wife, Norma L. (Morris) Eddy Headley, whom he married May 18, 2000, survives.

Also surviving are a stepdaughter and her husband, Linda (Joseph) Headlee of Waynesburg; two stepgrandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Tennant of Brave; a brother and his wife, Dwight W. (Joanna) Headley of Spraggs; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased is a brother, Edwin C. Headley.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, April 6, with the Rev. Fred Tomlinson officiating.
