Henry (L.) Abbey, b. July 11, 1842, at Rondout; d. June 8, 1911, at a sanitarium in Tenafly, N. J.

He was connected with banking interests in Kingston, N. Y., until his retirement in 1890. He was the author of several books of poems : May Dreams, 1862; Ralph and Other Poems, 1866; Stories in Verse, 1869; Ballads of Good Deeds, 1872, London edition, 1876 ; Poems, 1879 ; The City of Success and Other Poems, 1883 ; Poems, complete, 1885 ; editor of Bright Things from Everywhere, 1888. He was a frequent contributor to magazines and belonged to many literary associations, as the Authors' Club.

He m. Dec. 26, 1865, Mary Louise Dubois, who d. Nov. 2, 1889. She was the daughter of Elijah Dubois and was a descendant of Louis Dubois, founder of New Paltz in 1670.

Mr. and Mrs. Abbey had no children.
