Services for Shaw Kyser are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Hilliard Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Tuesday evening. Burial will be in Union Chapel Cemetery by his wife, Sue.

Mr. Kyser passed away at the age of 81 on April 8, 2012 in Van.

Alfred Shaw Kyser was born March 14, 1931 in Kaufman, Texas to the late Jessie Carlton Kyser and Elsie Jerdon Kyser. He had been a resident of Van since the mid-60's, previously living in Irving. He retired from General Telephone, where he worked as an installer and technician, and was a member of Van Church of Christ. In earlier years, he served in the US Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Kyser on January 10, 2010.

Survivors include his children, Stacy Harrison and husband, Adam of Van, Tina Rodgers and husband, Lane of Grand Saline, Celeste Strickland of Van, and Trisa Thomas of Ft. Worth; brother, T. M. Kyser and wife, Martha of Houston; sister, Alpha Floyd of Kaufman; and eight grandchildren, Niki, Zach, Zane, Shawn, Whitney, Rachel, Seth and Kearsten.
