Rev. Amos S. Prather's obituary taken from the Minutes of the Iowa Annual Conference, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa 52641. His pastoral care served the following charges: 1857-58, Denmark; 1859-60, Wapello; 1861, Dodgeville; 1862-63, Grandview; 1864-65, Crawfordsville; 1866, New London; 1867-68, Kossuth; 1869, Montezuma; 1870-71, New Sharon; and 1872, Birmingham, Iowa where he died in 1873. He married Margaret Esther Deeds on 24 June 1858 in Iowa. They were the parents of 5 children: Charles Harlan Prather b. 1859, Emma Luella Prather b. 1860, Willis Addison Prather b. 1862, Mary Stella Esther Prather b. 1866, and Charles Edgar Prather b. 1868. Living with them was an adopted niece, Rosannah Jane Woodruff.
Their children were: Charles Harlan Prather 1859-1859 90325990, Emma Luella Prather 1860-1928 23031789, Willis Addison Prather 1862- 1951 92250046, Stella Mary Esther Prather 1866-1941 61400109,Charles Edgar Prather 1868-1928.
