Mrs. Sylvia Ann Crays Laid to Rest in Mt. Calvary

Death took Mrs. Sylvia Ann Crays Tuesday of this week. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at Mt. Calvary church, northeast of Loogootee. Burial was in Mt. Calvary cemetery. Her five sons and a nephew were pallbearers.

Mrs. Crays was in her eighty-eighth year. Had she lived until September 11, she would have been 99.

On Nov. 24, 1857, she was united in marriage to James Crays. Nine children were born to them. Her husband and three children preceded her in death. The six living children are Benjamin, Lewis and James Crays and Mrs. Alicia Montgomery of Loogootee, W. E. Crays of Petersburg and George, at home.

Twenty-one grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and one great-great grand child also survive, as well as two sisters, Mrs. Harriet Lents and Mrs. Emma D. Strange.

About 35 years ago, Mrs. Crays united with the M.E. church at Mt. Calvary, and as long as her health permitted, she was a faithful and active member.
