Levi Sparks, for 18 years a resident of Forest Grove, died at his home on Third Street last Friday.
Mr. Sparks was born at Winchester, Ohio, June 1, 1932. He was of Irish and English ancestry, his mother being a relative of Thomas Moore, the poet of Ireland. He moved with his parents to Dubuque, Iowa, when he was 15 years old and lived there until 1874 when, with his family, moved to Vancouver, Washington and came to Oregon in 1883, living for 7 years at Banks and then to Forest Grove.
In 1862, in Peosta, Iowa, he married Miss Savilla Spurgeon, who with a sister, Mrs. Katherine Laughery of this place and the following children survive him: Mrs. Emily Brown, Portland; Mrs. Annie Bellinger, Lee, William, Maud, Hugh and Edwin of this city. Nephews from Vancouver were pall bearers.
