Pearl Moss

Pearl Moss ended her journey on earth on December 21, 2005, with her family by her side. She was born on July 7, 1925, in Houston, Texas to Joe and Bertha Kitchen. She was the 10th child of 11 children.

Despite having been born off the Island, Pearl was a true Galvestonian, having lived here 76 years. Some of her favorite memories were of being a car hop at the Jack Tar Hotel and the wonderful friends she made while working at Sears and Roebuck and the S.S. Galveston.

Pearl's greatest skill was one of caring for others. After raising her three children as a single mother, she took care of her mother, her brother and her sister. Pearl was a contract provider with the Gulf Coast Center, caring for her great companion Carmen McLean. Each life that Pearl touched was enriched through this experience.

She is survived by her son George T. Koch; daughter-in-law Claudia S. Koch; son Ron Koch and Joan Hall; her daughter Christi Camp and Bill. She is remembered by her grandchildren, Miles T. Koch, Mackenzie T. Koch, Courtney Camp and her great grandchild Scarlett S. Koch, brother Roy Kitchen, and best friend for life Odell Ginna, Austin, Texas.

Pearl enjoyed thrift store shopping, being with family and laughing. Her last great adventure was the Hurricane Rita evacuation, where she was able to enjoy being at a cabin on a lake, with Claudia and Mackenzie. She will be remembered for being fun to be with, teaching her grandchildren how to ride bikes, being very skilled at removing stains from her children and grandchildren's clothes, and her skating around Sacred Heart Gym at the age of 70.

Pearl's family will receive visitors at 12 noon, Friday, December 23, 2005, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at Galveston Memorial Park.
