Marvin C. Sipes, 68, Needmore, PA, died Friday, October 9, 1998 at Harrisburg (PA) Hospital.
Born January 15, 1930, in Berkeley Springs, WV, he was the son of the late George Benton and Mary Elizabeth Beatty Sipes.
He was an equipment operator for Fairview Orchards and several local orchards, retiring in 1992.
He was a member of Black Oak Mennonite Church, Warfordsburg, PA.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth M. Clem Sipes, Needmore, whom he married January 17, 1951; one daughter, Mary Jane McCusker Vogt, Berkeley Springs; three sons, Robert William Sipes Sr., Chambersburg, PA, Warren Clay Sipes, Needmore and the Rev. Roger Lee Sipes, Chicago, IL; two sisters, Alice Lease, Paw Paw, WV and Pearl Hartman, Keyser, WV; one brother, Ernest H. Sipes Sr., Hancock; four grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by one son, Steven Douglas Sipes; one sister, Nellie Hartman; and two brothers, Percy Sipes and Elmer Sipes.
Services were held Monday, October 12 at 11 a.m. at Black Oak Mennonite Church. The Revs. Clyde Moseman, Richard Rutherford and Roger L. Sipes officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by the Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock.
